We are having a Christmas Show at Siddal Club this year. We have been rehearsing for a few months to make sure we will have a good show this time.

We are having some flashing lights on the stage for us to have some fun and to make some people smile and it won't finish while late that night.

Skillshop's Charity Stall
Friday November 19th 2008

by
Anita Rutter

It was nice meeting other people and trying to make new friends. I sold shoes and clothes and a few other things and Bill said I did very well. It was very cold and windy. We made £95.

We went for our dinners between twelve and half past. I had chips and gravy and a small cup of coffee.

I saw my sister and my niece selling papers at the top of the market, we had a talk. I went for my dinner with Stephen, then went back to the stall and carried on selling. I sold some more clothes and a ladies suit for £2.50, and a blue telephone for £1.50. Bill said if he were going to sell it, he would have sold it for 50 pence, but I sold it for £1.50.

When we had finished at the end we were all very cold and I went home and got warmed up. I was very proud of myself for doing so well on the stall. I felt tired, too.

MY EYE WITNESS ACCOUNT OF THE BIRTH OF SKILLSHOP
by
STEPHEN BLAND

Well, I was in at the start of Skillshop on 12th September 2005, and I'm proud to say that I am impressed at the progress we've made.

On Monday the twelfth we began life as Skillshop and set out on our journey and what a journey it has been so far. I was client representative on the board of trustees for the first two years but have now passed that job on to another client.

We do many interesting things at Skillshop during the week. We have a kitchen area where we make wonderful meals for lunch. I spend a large amount of time in there on Mondays.

We also do amusic group on a Tuesday afternoon. At the moment the group is busy getting ready for our concert on Saturday 13th December 2008 at Siddal Ex-Servicemen's Club, it should be fun. Last year we did a concert at the Arden Road Social Club in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England.

In the New Year, we are moving up to a new location in Keighley Road, Ovenden at the home of one of the ladies who saved us in 2005. It will be nice to be not overlapping other activities because they will be in different rooms.

The IT suite will be next to the kitchen area up by the main gate by the family home but to get down to the other units there's a pathway to the other activities we do will be in these rooms. Something new we are planning to do is grow our own food.
