Sam Egan- Centre Manager

Hello everyone,

My name is Sam Egan and i am the day centre manager. I joined the Skillshop family back in 2009 as a volunteer. I instantly knew this was the career path i wanted to take.

I will ensure Skillshop is 'thee' place to be! We would not be Skillshop if it wasn’t for all our amazing ladies and gentlemen who attend our centre...
many are still coming since the day Skillshop opened - what does that tell ya?

We have a fantastic staff team! Every single one of them puts their hearts into their job and makes Skillshop an enjoyable place to be.

I cannot imagine working anywhere else. I could sit here and write all day about the things i love about my job but i would run out of paper/ink!! Skillshop is a totally fantastic place for all individuals and i feel proud to say i work here. All the clients have great fun and i start the day smiling and end the day smiling.

Each day at Skillshop is like a new adventure, always new goals to achieve and always new activities to take part in.

I am planning to make a positive future at Skillshop and feel confident that we will go a long way.

Carolyn Shepherd- Deputy Manager

Hello... I'm Carolyn...

I returned to education as a mature student in 1999. I completed an HND in Care Practice and then went on to do a BA Hons Degree in Social and community care. On completing my degree i secured a position as a residential social worker in a childrens home where i remained for five and a half years. I found this experience very rewarding.

As a support worker i moved onto get a position at St.Annes working with adults with learning difficulties, i was there for two and a half years and this is where my journey at Skillshop began. One day by chance i spotted a job advert for Skillshop and it sounded like just the place i wanted to work. I came for a trial day and was welcomed by everyone. People were so friendly and i knew instantly this is where i wanted to work.

I have been at Skillshop since March 2011 and i look forward to coming everyday. I am enjoying my new role as Supervisor

Everyday is so different i work with many different unique people and the whole experience is so rewarding.
